Are you up for a challenge?! Join us by making VR art daily, weekly, or monthly, based on our calendar of themes. Use any and all VR Art mediums, and feel free to switch between them all and incorporate post processing techniques. Post on social media with the #VRArtLive #YearofVRArt hashtags, and submit your posted art link on our entry form to have your submission counted towards earning rewards at the end of the year.
The challenge is a great way to keep you focused throughout the year, connect with the community, keep your imagination open, try new things, and build your portfolio of VR art! There are many ways to participate. You can earn 3D trophies or medals and be considered for our YearOfVRArt Panel Event, or participate casually.

Choose your participation level - DAILY, WEEKLY, MONTHLY, or CASUAL. If you plan to earn rewards, you will need to stick to whatever you commit to here, so choose a level you think you can manage all year! Or take it casually and try out all the levels of participation.
We will post a new calendar of themes each month.
Create VR art based on the theme, post to your favorite social media with the #VRArtLive #YearofVRArt hashtags. It is also helpful to number it with the day # (for daily) week # (for weekly) or month # (for monthly).
Submit the link to your posted art on our SUBMISSION FORM by the deadline.
DAILY: The goal for daily participants is to establish a regular daily routine of creating art, so try to post your art daily and complete the submission form by midnight in your time zone each day. However, if something comes up where you can’t submit them every day, as long as you get all your pieces for the week done and submitted on the form by Saturday night at midnight in your time zone, they will still be counted towards earning rewards. 2021 Daily participants start January 1. Daily participants have 3 late credits - meaning throughout the year you can be late on 3 submissions. One of these carries over if switching to Weekly or Monthly.
WEEKLY: Post your art and submit your form before midnight in your time zone on Saturday each week in order to have them counted towards earning rewards. Weekly participants need to submit their first piece on Saturday Jan 9. Weekly participants have 2 late credits - meaning throughout the year you can be late on 2 submissions. One of these carries over if switching to Monthly.
MONTHLY: Choose any theme from our calendar for that month and post it and submit the form before midnight in your time zone on the last day of the month in order to have them counted towards earning rewards. Monthly participants need to submit their first pieces by Jan 31. Monthly participants have 1 late credit - meaning throughout the year you can be late on 1 submission.
CASUAL: Choose any theme from our calendar and post at any time! Casual participants are not eligible for the end of year rewards but can still be connected to the community and have fun creating art!
3D Virtual trophies will be awarded to participants who complete the entire challenge at whatever level was selected at the beginning of the year – 365 daily, 52 weekly, or 12 monthly entries based on the calendar themes, posted on social media with the hashtags, and submitted before the deadlines using the submission form.
3D Virtual medals will be awarded to participants who were not able to complete the entire year, but have completed at least 50% of the year at whatever level was selected at the beginning of the challenge – 183 daily, 26 weekly, or 6 monthly entries based on the calendar themes, posted on social media with the hashtags, and submitted before the deadlines using the submission form. Completed days, weeks, or months do not need to be consecutive. So if you started the challenge late, missed some weeks, or life gets in the way of your art for a while, you still have the opportunity to earn a reward at the end of the year.
Whether you are challenging yourself to earn trophy or medal rewards or just participating for fun, the greatest reward of being part of the Year of VR Art challenge is being involved with the community! We encourage you to post your art submissions on our discord Year-of-VR-Art channel where you will get to know the other artists and learn from one another! This is a great group where you will find support and encouragement from others who love VR art. Join the Discord
